A flier just went across my desk that sounded like local fun for the weekend.  Here’s the scoop:

spring

Spring for Handmade, our arts and fine crafts market, is tomorrow March 14, 2009,  from 9am to 4pm!

The event will take place in our front and side parking lots, at 1600 Edgewater Drive, College Park.

We’re featuring our own designers as well as other artists, artisans, and crafters from all over Central Florida. You’ll find amazing handmade jewelry, pottery, clay sculpture, paintings, baby goods, aprons, candles, and more.

It’s going to be a beautiful day, so stop by for lunch, tea, and gelato at Infusion Tea, treat yourself to a chair massage (between 11am and 3pm), listen to some terrific live music, and then browse among the artists’ tents and tables while you soak up the sun.

Doesn’t that sound lovely? See you there!

It started yesterday, but you can still catch some of the E.L.L.A. Fest over the weekend! Details?

What is the E.L.L.A. Music Festival?

A Musical Celebration of the Florida Female Artist. Elevate.Listen.Love.Appreciate.  E.L.L.A.

“E.L.L.A, A Musical Celebration of the Florida Female Artist,” is here to showcase to the people of Orlando the wonderful and extremely talented women that grace our fine city and state. Its purpose is to help elevate the inner spirit of all artists who have not yet heeded the call to create; to support and listen to what we, as a community of believers and communicators, have to say; to love one another, and to help spread that love beyond the walls of our inner self; and to appreciate, and to show our appreciation of what has come from our home, before it goes away and never comes back. We believe that Florida has some of the strongest and most talented women in the world, and they deserve to be heard, viewed, and celebrated. By creating this festival, we want to make sure that they are.”

One of the perks to my job as chair of the “Green Team” is that I get to do really fun stuff once in a while. And I’m event coordinating these days for a music/arts fest type shindig over at the church.

It’s a non-profit community service project to help promote local artists / performers / musicians/ groups/ businesses. We don’t charge them any kind of “exhibitor” fee. We just want to help them broadcast “LOCAL” to Orlando!

As a perk to my readers who like the square foot gardening front and other eco-bits I broadcast here….

The Green Team VIP Ticket! (Click pix for larger version)

Good for up to 4 people and valued at $60 total. Knock yourselves out! Just print this article and bring it in.
